Offering some kind of sale or special offer is perhaps the most effective not so secret weapon you have.
Over the last couple weeks, I wrote about my pricing strategy for my service. After doing a lot more research, I think I’m going to have three different pricing models. Since I’m just starting out, there will defintely be a free version. There will be an introductory price, a normal non introductory price. A price if you sign up on an annual basis. And finally, a premium price for those wanting all the bells and whistles.
Today’s chapter focuses on creating fire sales that catch people’s attention and lure them in to buy something. The key to any good fire sale is that it’s for a limited time only. I’ve seen a car wax business do this very frequently. Whenever there’s a holiday, he’s out there with a 24–48 hour deal that you just have to jump on now!
Scarcity and Urgency
Scarcity is the perception of limited resources or opportunities. I’m not really sure how I’m going to make a digital product be scarce, but I’m sure I’ll figure something out.
Urgency is the deal is going away soon. This will be my introductory price that’s only going to be around for a little while.
Overall, the teachings of today are that people like to spend money. You just have to give them a good incentive to jump out of their seats and give that money to you. I really don’t like charging people for things since I don’t have the confidence that whatever I’m making is good enough for people to give me money. For years I’ve done free IT work for friends and family and never charged anyone anything. But, since I really do want to make this business profitable, and the amount of time it’s going to take me to make this a good offering is substantial, you better believe that I’ll be charging.
Thanks for joining me today. I’m still building out the website and analyzing the style of videos that I want to create. I’ve learned a lot from my research and have determined that the most successful and engaging videos have some sort of animation to it. This is perfect because I really want to tap into that creative part of my brain to bring this content to life. This is bad because I can’t draw a stick figure if my life depended on it. Goal for today is start generating the outline, a template if you will, for what my content is going to look like. I’m creating a hybrid of all the best practices I’m seeing on the internet and adding my personal touch to make it unique to me and my intended audience.
